PUMA Power?

The PUMA gals are hosting a conference in DC in early August to scheme plan for the Democratic Convention.

Here's the deal:

Okay, so they're offering 250 - that's two hundred and fifty - slots at the bargain price of $250. This deal is first-come, first-served - once they get 250 people - that's two hundred and fifty - signed up, it's assumed that the price will go up.

Now, the first reference I found to this conference on Google Blog Search was on July 15th:

Conflucians and PUMAs, maybe you’ve already booked your flight and made your hotel/campsite reservation for Denver but what will you be doing once you get there? And what is PUMA all about anyway? What is our purpose? Are we a movement? A new party?

Those are questions we are attempting to answer and for this purpose, the instigators of the PUMA movement propose an organizing meeting in Washington DC. The Pre-Convention PUMA Conference (PCPC) will be held on August 8-10 at the Marriott Wardham Hotel, the scene of the crime.

The purpose of PCPC will be to organize PUMA for the purposes of the Denver convention and to define our role going forward.

That was 6 days ago. The deal is still posted on the PUMA Conference web site as I type this, so presumably, it's still available.

So riddle me this - how come it's been almost a week and they haven't managed to scare up (and I DO mean "scare") 250 folks to attend this conference?

I thought the PUMA's were a force to be reckoned with. They're going to pay down Hillary's campaign debt. They're going to persuade Super Delegates to switch from Barack to Hillary so that she ends up being the nominee in November.

And failing all that (ahem), they will see to it that Barack loses and John McBush becomes 404 44.

So how come there aren't 250 - that's two hundred and fifty - PUMA's who can scrape up $250 for this all-important conference?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Really, we want to know.

because if there are people who know what's mind-boggling and crazy, it's the pumas

I'll sign up; anyone else going to join me? We can really help set the PUMA agenda.

Bullseye.

Two other things that ts from Instaputz noticed about this conference, Wonk.

First, the hotel is a three-star not a five-star hotel (they just can't help themselves). And the "Generous PUMAs" sponsorship page is a hoot.

I checked the website, and you can get a room at the Wardman Park for $169 a night. So here's the breakdown on the other $81:

1) $10 for Saturday Breakfast
2) $5 for Saturday Lunch
3) $10 for Sunday Breakfast
4) $10 for conference room

So that leaves $46 for Darragh Murphy's pocket. So if all goes according to plan, she stands to pocket a little over $11,000 off this scam. Nice!

They have no money left. They gave $10 million to Hillary..

$250 is nothing man, I would go but then I'd miss work

Yeah, sounds like Will was lying on FOX when he said 10 million was raised towards Hillary's debt. And oh yes, the debt is in the 'black' now.

Are Will and his PUMA buddies pulling a Sinclair on their minions?

After all, Will thought Sinclair's story "Worth exploring" outside Larry's Press (con) Conference at the NPC.
Maybe Will got some tips from Larry about pulling a con before the police hauled Lardtard off to jail.

Probably not the case, but I think its 'Worth exploring' ;~P

You know they are also looking for vendors maybe we could set up and sell some Obama merch. for his campaign. For the REAL price not with the Murphy markup.

Not that I wouldn't love to crash their party, but I chewed up a big chunk of my vacation time with my move, so I'm tapped out as far as spare time goes. :)

Thanks for that link nikolita, I've been looking for that story.

I saw it linked somewhere while I was at work but when I clicked on the link the story wasn't there and I couldn't find it on the CNN site.

I'll shamelessly admit (while hoping it won't get me in trouble) that Fark covers a lot of these stories, and that's where I got the link from. I wasn't sure if you had seen it or not Wonk, but wanted to share in case you hadn't. So you're most welcome for the link. :) Hope you don't mind me spamming your comments with links every once in awhile. >_>

If it's $250 for three nights, it makes sense to register to the event just to get the room. It's not like they can force you to attend the conference.
